Regatta sailing academy had a fantastic afternoon on Friday 29th September welcoming the shell outpost community to have a go at sailing
46 people, young and old, made their way to our base in katara to have an introduction to life on the water.
The sessions began with all sailors being fitted into their buoyancy aids and then a short briefing was given by chief instructor simon before being shown how to use the academies range of sailing boats.
The intrepid sailors then launched their boats and made their way out to, and around, a simple sailing course before having a slightly longer sail around the bay in katara before heading back to the beach for a final debrief.
All of us at Regatta enjoyed hosting these keen new sailors and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
